What We Fund

The Gold Foundation only provides financial support to programs and projects which encourage more compassionate and relationship-centered healthcare. In order to become complete doctors, physicians must be able to understand the human condition. The Gold Foundation partners with medical schools and teaching hospitals to infuse humanism into medical training from the first day of medical school to the last day of residency. We believe that scientific knowledge and technology are critical to medicine, but do not represent the full scope of competencies necessary for effective doctoring.

The Gold Foundation creates and supports national programs for which schools, teaching hospitals and other appropriate institutions may apply. We also provide funding for innovative projects proposed by students, residents and faculty.

The Gold Foundation provides grants only to 501(c)3 organizations.

STUDENT- RESIDENT- AND FACULTY- INITIATED PROJECTS

The Gold Foundation funds unsolicited projects, such as research, lectures, curriculum development, community outreach, cross cultural education, and the publication of literary writings related to the practice of humanistic medicine which can be self-sustained and replicated. Although the Gold Foundation does not have a specific funding limit, grants are given for as little as $250 and do not typically exceed $25,000. The Gold Foundation generally provides one-time funding for projects and looks favorably upon those projects, which can be self-sustaining and replicable. The Gold Foundation is particularly interested in innovative programs which include a strong evaluation component.

The Foundation does not typically fund endowments, capital campaigns or scholarships.
