The Gold Foundation provides seed funding to faculty, residents and students seeking to institute programs at their schools and hospitals which teach the skills, attitudes, and behaviors of humanism. During the years of medical training, science is taught 24 hours a day. Through our grants the Gold Foundation encourages the teaching of the art of medicine alongside the science . The Gold Foundation believes that while we can not always influence an individual's character, we can affect behavior by teaching the “habit of humanism.” By providing direct and inspiring learning experiences for many constituencies in the medical education arena, we hope to effect the perception of what is valued in our society. The Gold Foundation provides funding for programs we develop as well as projects initiated by students, residents and faculty.

A tremendous wellspring of humanism, altruism and innovation resides within our nation's medical schools and teaching hospitals. The Gold Foundation taps into these exceptional resources by supporting inventive ideas to promote more compassionate medical care and caregivers. Our foundation receives and supports a number of unsolicited proposals from students, residents and faculty to develop and support projects related to humanism in medicine. These requests range from curriculum innovations to research, communication skill building to service projects.
