Applying for a Grant

To apply for a Gold Foundation signature program (such as White Coat Ceremony, Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award or Student Summer Fellowship) please see the individual program page for instructions.

To apply for an unsolicited grant from the Gold Foundation, please use the following process.

Prior to submitting a proposal, please send an electronic one-page Letter of Intent describing the objectives of the project to the attention of the Director of Programs at proposals@gold-foundation.org.

The letter of intent should include:

   1. A clear description of the project
   2. Methods and participants
   3. A proposed budget
   4. The project's anticipated timeframe

If the project falls within the Gold Foundation's areas of interest, a full proposal will be requested.

Full proposals should include the following:

   1. Cover Sheet
   2. Description of project
   3. Brief historical background (if known, please also include information about other similar projects and an appropriate review of the literature)
   4. Goals and objectives
   5. Implementation/research methods
   6. Evaluation methods
   7. Possibility for replication at other departments or institutions
   8. Proposed timeline
   9. How project will continue after Gold Foundation funding is completed
  10. Budget and budget narrative


Proposals should not exceed 5 pages. Additional attachments should include CVs of appropriate participants and letters of support (not to exceed 3 letters). 3-5 articles related to proposed project may also be included. The institution's 501(C)(3) letter must accompany the proposal.
 

* Presidential level grant applications of up to $5,000 are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. There are no deadlines for these requests.

* Grant requests for over $5,000 are reviewed by the Grants Review Committee of the Foundation's Board of Trustees on a quarterly basis.

It is the policy of The Arnold P. Gold Foundation that no dean's tax, overhead or indirect expenses may be subtracted from the total grant amount by the administration of the school. All monies given by The Gold Foundation are to be used exclusively for the project.
